Well known Wildlife Photography Exhibit to lionize its fiftieth anniversary

The wildlife photographers of South Africa have once again showcased that they are among the top in world at fiftieth Wildlife Photographer of the Year contest. The yearly global contest for world’s well known wildlife and nature snaps is fierce, with more than forty two thousand entries given from throughout the world.

The contest culminates in an exhibit of hundred of judge’s favorites, selected for a collection of technical skill, narrative excellence and creative vision. In this context, the 6 finalists of South Africa as well as one category winner mark a great achievement for the nation.

The exhibit that is co-owned by Natural History Museum of London as well as BBC Worldwide is arranged in South Africa by NHU Africa, would be on showcase at Iziko South African Museum in Cape Town from 5th December, 2014, Friday, to 5th March, 2015, Thursday, and is bought at by the National Geographic Channels for the very third time running.

With a little but hardworking and highly talented community of photographers in South Africa, there are a few familiar names chosen for exhibit. The top title winner in the year 2013, Greg du Toit, had 2 snaps placed when 2013 animal portraits top prize winner Hannes Lochner, has once again been selected for his Spikes as well as stars image.

Conservation district sponsors photo contest

Photographers are asked to give their favorite nature themed pictures for 2013 Ionia County Conservation Photo competition for a scope to get prizes and share the artistry with the residents of Ionia County.

The Ionia County Conservation Photo Contest 2013 will have four 4 categories: Wildlife, Quirks of Nature, Conservation Practices and Kids and Nature. The entries will be evaluated by the Ionia County 4-H photography group members and the the conservation district board will select the winners.

MAEAP water stewardship technician Rachel Koleda told that the conservation district arranged a photo contest many years ago, and they decided to revive the program to see what things people are clicking pictures of.

Rachel told that some of the snaps would be used as ad on their website, on their Facebook page as well as in press releases. They also wanted to do a calendar for district and sell it as a fundraiser.

For each category, there will be three top winners. Each 1st place winner will get US$ 25 prize as well as ten free tree seedlings. 2nd place holders will get a US$ 10 prize and ten free tree seedlings. 3rd place holders will get ten free tree seedlings. All the winning images will be showcased and awarded in the annual meeting of Ionia Conservation District. The meeting will take place on 12th March from 6 pm to 8 pm.
